Love between Hazrat Abu Bakar and Hazrat Ali RahmatULLAH Aleh
Take from As-Sahaba by IM?M AHMAD F?R?Q?
One day Ab? Bakr as-Sidd?q ‘radiy-All?hu ’anh’ came to Ras?lullah’s ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ place. He was about to enter, when Al? bin Ab? T?lib ‘radiy-All?hu ’anh’ arrived, too. Ab? Bakr stepped backwards and said, “After you, Y? Al?.” The latter replied and the following long dialogue took place between them:
Al? – Y? Ab? Bakr, you go in first for you are ahead of us all in all goodnesses and acts of charity.
Ab? Bakr – You go in first, Y? Al?, for you are closer to the Messenger of Allah ‘sall-All?hu ta’?l? ’alaihi wa sallam’.
Al? – How could I go ahead of you? I heard the Messenger of Allah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ say, “The sun has not risen on any one of my Ummat higher than Ab? Bakr.”
Ab? Bakr – How could I go ahead of you? On the day when Ras?lullah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ gave his daughter F?tima-t-uz-zahr? ‘radiy-All?hu ta’?l? ’anh?’ in marriage to you, he stated, “I have given the best of women to the best of men.”
Al? – I cannot go ahead of you, for Ras?lullah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ stated, “Let him who wants to see Ibr?h?m (Abraham) ‘alaihis-sal?m’ look at Ab? Bakr’s face.”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go ahead of you, for Ras?lullah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ stated, “Let him who wants to see ?dam’s ‘alaihis-sal?m’ tenderness and Y?suf’s ‘alaihis-sal?m’ beautiful moral qualities look at Al?!”
Al? – I can not enter before you. For, the Messenger of Allah ‘alaihis-sal?m’ asked, “Y? Rabb?! Who loves me most, and who is the best of my Sah?ba?” Jen?b-i-Haqq answered, “Y? Muhammad ‘alaihis-sal?m’! He is Ab? Bakr as-Sidd?q.”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go ahead of you. For, the Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “So (good) is the person whom I give knowledge that All?hu ta’?l? loves him, and so do I; I love him very much.” You have been the gate to the town of knowledge.
Al? – I can not go before you, for the Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “There is a sign that says, ‘Ab? Bakr, the Hab?bullah (the Darling of Allah),’ on the gates of Paradise.”
Ab? Bakr – I cannot go before you. For, during the Holy War of Hayber the Messenger of Allah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ handed the flag to you and stated, “This flag is a gift from the Mel?k-i-gh?lib to Al? bin Ab? T?lib.”
Al? – How can I go before you? The Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ said to you, “Y? Ab? Bakr! You stand for my sight, which sees, and for my heart, which knows.”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go ahead of you. For, the Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “On the Rising Day Al? will come (to the place of assembly) on the back of an animal of Paradise. Jen?b-i-Haqq will say, ‘Y? Muhammad ‘alaihis-sal?m’! How beautiful a father your father Ibr?h?m Hal?l is; and how beautiful a brother your brother Al? bin Ab? T?lib is.’ ”
Al? – I can not go before you. For, the Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “On the Rising Day the angel named Ridw?n, who is the chief of the angels of Paradise, will enter Paradise, coming back with the keys of Paradise. He will give them to me. Then Jebr??l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ will come and say, ‘Y? Muhammad, give the keys of Paradise and those of Hell to Ab? Bakr. Let Ab? Bakr send anyone he chooses to Paradise and others to Hell.’ ”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go ahead of you, for the Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “Al? will be by my side on the Rising Day. He will be with me near the Hawz and Kawthar. He will be with me on the Sir?t. He will be with me in Paradise. And he will be with me (at the happiest moment) as I see All?hu ta’?l?.’ ”
Al? – I can not enter before you do, for the Messenger of Allah ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “If the ?m?n held by Ab? Bakr were weighed against the total sum of the ?m?n held by all the other Believers, his ?m?n would weigh heavier.”
Ab? Bakr – How can I go before you? For, the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “I am the city of knowledge. And Al? is the gate?”
Al? – How can I ever walk ahead of you? For, the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “I am the city of faithfulness. And Ab? Bakr is its gate.”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go before you, for the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “On the Rising Day Al? will be made to mount a beautiful horse. Those who see him will wonder: What prophet is that person? All?hu ta’?l? will say: This is Al? bin Ab? T?lib.”
Al? – I can not go ahead of you, for the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “I and Ab? Bakr are from the same soil. We shall be one again.”
Ab? Bakr – I can not go before you, for the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “All?hu ta’?l? will say: O you, Paradise! I shall adorn your four corners with four people. One of them is Muhammad ‘alaihis-sal?m’, the highest of prophets. Another one is Al?, the highest of those who fear All?hu ta’?l?. The third one is F?tima-t-uz-zahr?, the highest of women. And the fourth corner will be occupied by Hasan and Husayn, the highest of pure people.”
Al? – How can I go ahead of you? The Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “A voice from the eight Gardens of Paradise calls as follows: O Ab? Bakr, come with those whom you love; and you all, enter Paradise!”
Ab? Bakr – I cannot go before you, for the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “I am like a tree. F?tima is the trunk. Al? is the branches. Hasan and Husayn are the fruits.”
Al? – I can not go before you, for the Ras?l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “May All?hu ta’?l? forgive all the faults of Ab? Bakr. For, he gave his daughter ?isha to me; he helped me during the Hijrat (Hegira, Migration to Medina); he bought Bil?l-i-Habash?, (who was a slave formerly,) and emancipated him for me.” ... .
As the two darlings of the Messenger of Allah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’ were talking like this before the door, the Best of Mankind was inside, listening. He interrupted Al? as he was talking and stated from inside:
“O my brothers Ab? Bakr and Al? ‘radiy-All?hu ’anhum?’! Please do come in! Jebr??l ‘alaihis-sal?m’ has been here; he says that the angels on the earth and in the seven skies have been listening to you and that you could not describe your value in the view of All?hu ta’?l? were you to praise each other till the end of the world.” The two beloved companions gave an affectionate hug to each other, and together they entered the presence of the Messenger of Allah ‘sall-All?hu ’alaihi wa sallam’.
The Messenger ‘alaihis-sal?m’ stated, “May All?hu ta’?l? bless both of you with his Rahma (Compassion) hundreds of times. May He bless your lovers also with His Rahma hundreds of times; and may your enemies be accursed hundreds of times.” Hadrat Ab? Bakr as-Sidd?q said, “Y? Ras?lallah (O Messenger of Allah)! I shall not do shaf?’at (intercede) for the enemies of my brother Al?.” Hadrat Al? said, “Y? Ras?lallah! I shall not intercede for the enemies of my brother Ab? Bakr; and I shall behead them with my sword.” Ab? Bakr stated, “I shall not let your enemies pass the Sir?t Bridge.”See the punishment for becoming the enemy of Abu Bakr as sideeq? beheading! as narrated by the best qadhi from amongst the sahaba and the ummah, Ali Asad Allah
How some people attempt to curse any of these pious sahaba is beyond me. Verily only the munafiqun curse the sahaba and try to say Imam Ali (ra) and Abu Bakr as-sideeq (ra) did not love each other.
If one of the attributes of any of these men were to be shared amongst the 1.5 Billion Muslims today we would not be in the state we are in.
May Allah teach us to love them, follow them and learn from them Ameen
