Its an addition alright. The Infancy Gospel of Thomas is the only other place than the Quran where you find the clay birds story. Do you not think Matthew, John, Paul and Luke would have mentioned Jesus breathing life into clay like Allah if it had happened? Would that miracle in itself not prove Jesus the son of Allah? Do you know of any other mere Prophet who could breathe life into clay exactly like Allah did with Adam? Nice of the Qur"an to confirm that miracle as legitimate, because now we know for sure that Jesus was the Son of Allah, his middle name was Akhmed. And no, you cant say "Jesus did it by Allahs leave". Everything is by Allahs leave, isnt it? Jesus still physically did it and no other Prophet did, including Muhammad.

1st of all Welcome to urduworld and i am glad that you took interest in Quran and Islam now a days not many would do so. To answer few of your questions i would say Miracles are legitimate and were given only to Prophets and not to any other human being. Though we muslims or Islam preaches us all that Prophets do stand on equality for us but for instance lets compare the two Prophets Mohammad PBUH and Maseeh Essa AS (Jesus) where Quran confirmed the miracle that Maseeh AS could breathe life into clay its also confirmed that Mohammad PBUH chuk the moon into two parts that was a Miracle which was not done by any other Prophet. I can confirm you that all the Prophets were blessed by different Miracles just to show people of that time that the message they are bringing in is right and one should follow it. Few other examples i can give you are with Noah AS as we all know that the very first ship on earth was built by him with the help of ALLAH where all the generations were placed at the time of Noah Storm now thats also a Miracle which happened in those times and no other Prophet had the liberty to do it again i.e. to gather all the pairs of animals , any creature even and not only humans. Salman AS (Solomon) was with the Miracle of understanding the language of all the Animals , Birds, Jins, Humans of the whole earth and he was given the Miracle of being the king of the whole Earth all the creatures on earth use to report to him as their king he was awarded with this Miracle and no other Prophet was awarded with it. Musa AS (Moses) was given Miracles where he could drop his stick on floor which would turn into a snake and when he use to put his hand in his arm pit his hand use to glow white just like moon light that was a Miracle which wasnt given to any other Prophet. Ibrahim AS (Abraham) was thrown into fire but by ALLAH's will nothing happened to him even the fire got cold on him and he didnt got burned that was a Miracle which no other Prophet was awarded with / faced to or any such thing.
I can give you plenty of more exampls which other Prohpets could do but not even Mohammad PBUH could do or Maseeh AS (Jesus) could do this doesnt mean that they were not capable of doing those or they couldnt do those it means they were not meant to be doing it so its ALLAH's will to assign to those Prophets what they should have done and when they should have done.
I would suggest / recommend that read the whole Quran in english and Bible you must have read already you would find many things common and this may broad your vision more towards being ONE GOD and HIS Prophets.
